Message from the Chairmen of the Chamber’s Government Initiatives and Education Committee

Each year, the Government Initiatives and Education Committee of the Orange County Chamber develops a “Legislative Agenda,” which is a list of key issues of concern to the business community on which the committee will focus its efforts during the year. We recently solicited input from a variety of business and professional people to help us develop a targeted and timely agenda for the Chamber so that we can be as effective as possible when handling government initiatives and educational issues.

However, some programs are ongoing: we hold an annual briefing for our state legislators, in addition to an annual Elected Officials Reception. Both events have been very useful in providing opportunities for our members to communicate one-on-one with their elected leaders. In addition, we organize delegations each year to visit our legislators in Albany and Washington.

The Government Initiatives and Education Committee is very interested in hearing from Chamber members in terms of what issues concern you the most. Please call (845-457-9700 ) or e-mail (carols@orangeny.com) to share your thoughts with us. And if you’re interested in joining our committee, we’d love to see you! Join us in speaking up for YOUR business
